INFOSYS INTERVIEW PUZZLES WITH ANSWERS

INFOSYS INTERVIEW PUZZLES WITH ANSWERS

I HAVE COLLECTED THESE QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS FROM THE MAILS IN THE GROUP ONLY. FOR 3-4 QUESTIONS ONLY I HAVE FOUND THE ANSWER WITH THE HELP OF MY TEACHERS. SO KEEP IN MIND THAT THESE ANSWERS MAY NOT BE 100% CORRECT. TRY TO SOLVE IT YOURSELF.

1. You are given two candles of equal size, which can burn 1 hour each. You have to measure 90 minutes with these candles. (There is no scale or clock). Also u r given a lighter.

Ans: 1. First light up the two ends of the 1st candle. When it will burn out light up one end of the second candle.   (30+60=90)

2. Try the similar problem to measure 45 minutes.

Ans: First light-up the two ends of the 1st candle and one end of the 2nd candle.
When the 1st candle will burn out ,then light up the both ends of the 2nd  candle (15+30=45)

3. You r given a thermometer. What can u do by this without measuring the temperature?

Ans: if u put thermometer into a tree it won't grow anymore, will just die off

4. How it is possible to place four points that are equidistance from each other?
OR
U r a landscape designer and your boss asked u to design a landscape such that you should place 4 trees equidistance from each other.
(Distance from each tree to the other must be same)

Ans: Only 3 points can be equidistant from each other. But if u place points in the shape of a pyramid then its possible

5. You are given a cake; one of its corner is broken. How will u cut the rest into Two equal parts?

Ans: Slice the cake

6. How will you recognize the magnet & magnetic material & non-magnetic material?

Ans: Drag one piece of material over another. There is no attractive force in the middle portion of the magnet. OR
Get a piece of thread and tie up with the one bar and check for poles. If it iron bar then it moves freely and if it is magnetic bar then it fix in one direction according to poles.

7. If one tyre of a car suddenly gets stolen.... and after sometime u find the tyre
without the screws how will u make ur journey complete?

Ans: Open 3 screws, 1 from each tyre and fix the tyre.

8. How can u measure a room height using a thermometer?

Ans: temp varies with height. but its dependent on various other factors like
humidity, wind etc.

9. What is the height of room if after entering the room with a watch ur head
strikes a hanging bulb?

Ans: Oscillate the hanging bulb. Calculate the time period for one complete
oscillation by Simple Harmonic Motion (SHM) of the handing bulb. Put it in the
formula T=2 * 3.14 * (L/G)^1/2
L will be the length of the hanging thread.
Add the L with ur height to get the height of the room.
OR

Ans: Drop it from the room and find the time at which it strikes the floor. Using physics formula  s = (at^2)/2 (IM NOT SURE ABOUT THIS ONE)

10. Color of bear.... if it falls from 1m height in 1s.

Ans: We get 'g' perfect 10 which is only in poles...hence polar bear...color White

11. How will you measure height of building when you are at the top of the building? And if you have stone with you.

Ans: Drop the stone and find the time taken for the stone to reach the ground. find height using the formula
s = a + gt ( s = height, a= initial velocity=0, g=9.8m/s, t = time taken)

12. How wud u catch and receive a ball in same direction? (Dropping is from north And receiving from bottom not accepted, as it is 2 directions)

Ans: ?

13. 25 statements given. Some tell truth, some false and some alternators. Find out the true statements.

Ans: ?

14. Can u make 120 with 5 zeros?

Ans: Factorial (factorial (0)+factorial (0)+factorial (0)+factorial (0)+factorial (0)) =  120

15.There are three people A, B, C. Liars are of same type and Truth speaking people are of same type. Find out who is speaking truth and who is speaking false from the following statements:
a)       A says: B is a liar.
b)       B says: A and C are of same type.
Ans: lets assume A is speaking truth. It means B is a liar then it means A and C are not of same type.

16.5 swimmers A, B, C, E, F and many conditions of their positions like there are Two b/w A & F, B doesn't win etc the question was to find who was b/w like E & D?

Ans: ?

17. in a race u drove 1st lap with 40kmph and in the second lap at what speed u must drive so that ur average speed must be 80kmph.

Ans: its impossible! if u drove the first lap in 40 kmph, its impossible that the
average speed of both the laps is 80kmph.
for eg. consider one lap distance = 80km.
time req. to cover 1 lap = 80km/40kmph = 2 hrs.

if the avg. speed is 80kmph, then the total time would have taken = 160kms/80kmph = 2 hrs.
same is the case with any other distance u consider. so the avg to be 80kmph is  impossible

18. You have to draw 3 concentric circles with a line passing thru their center without lifting hand.

Ans: Start the line complete one circle move inside circles along the line and then draw second circle. Like wise rest.

19. A rectangular paper is there. At a corner a rectangular size paper is taken from it. Now you have to cut the remaining paper into two equal halves.

Ans: try it on the paper. You must fold the part that has complete paper and select Half of it and then fold the part that cut and selects half of it and then cut along the folding. (I DONT UNDERSTAND THIS ONE!!)

20. Value of (x-a)(x-b). . . . (x-z)

Ans: 0 as there's X-X term

21. There are 9 coins. 8 are of 1 gm and 1 is of 2 grams. How will you find out the heavier coin in minimum number of weighing and how many weighing it will need?
Ans: 2 weighing ( Divide the number of coins into 3 parts at each weighing)

IBM Interview Experience - Chennai, Jan 22, 2016

IBM Interview Experience - Chennai, Jan 22, 2016

Hi Folks.

So ready for IBM. I want to share my experience with you. I completed my
B-Tech (2016 Batch) with specialization in ECE.

To come to the point you guys are looking for, let me tell you one advice.
Be thorough with the series of all previous year ibm papers. Start solving
all of them because there were repeated questions. And make sure you get the
hold of solving these series. My suggestion would be to start solving two
days before the test and keep doing so till your test. It ll help you to
stay in touch with the series and you can easily recognise them and hit the
right choice once you see them on screen without even giving it a second
thought.

There are 36 aptitude questions that are timed in a way 2.15mins FOR EACH
question. The first 18 are series and you can't skip any question. Just go
for it because there is no negative marking. Also YOU CAN USE SYSTEM
CALCULATOR :). The last 18 questions will be a cakewalk if you know basic
aptitude like percentage, profit and loss, time speed and distance, ratio
proportion. Don't break your heads with Permutation probability, etc.

Once you clear this round, the next round is english assessment where they
test your basic english skills on grammar, proper sentence formation and
punctuation. For eg. Clara my friend bought me this present. The correct
punctuation will be Clara, my best friend, bought me this present. Then Be
thorough with the format for business mail and formal letters. Salutations,
attachments etc. This round has 22 questions with a total time of 20 mins.

By God's grace I have cleared both the rounds and waiting for the call for
interview.

All the best guys :).

IBM Interview Experience - PUNE, NOVEMBER 12,2016

IBM Interview Experience - PUNE, NOVEMBER 12,2016

Hi friends,

I'm Ankita rathi, B.E.  (CSE) 2016 passout. Its my pleasure to share my
experience with you all. I attended off campus of ibm. It was referred
drive. And for this their criteria was.

10>=70, 12>=70, degree aggregate>=70.

They are very particular about marks. If you have even 69.5, 69.8 they won't
allow you. So be sure!

Generally it consists of four rounds but we gone through 3 rounds only. It
depends on them. But you should be ready for all rounds. Go through the
previous placement papers, recent ones, it helps you a lot.

Our drive was scheduled on 12th november, 2016. Reporting time was 8:30.
They start by time still it took long time for registration & then test.
There were 1000 candidates for first day. It was online test. Our test
starts about 1:15pm.

Round 1: Aptitude test.

Be sure with this one round because this is the major elimination round.
Once you clear this then 70% done. This test contains 2 sets of questions.

Part 1]. Series.

There are 18 questions on series. Single series, combination of 2 or 3
series & you have to find out what will be next number in the series. Be
careful you have fixed time of 2.15 min for each question. After 2.15 min
question removed from screen. You have to manage time any how. Keep an eye
on timer. Even if you are not able to find answer just click on any option
as there is no negative marking. By proper practice you can solve 12-15
series easily. I can't recall questions now but believe me you can solve
them. After each que there is gap for 30 sec. If you want to relax yourself
you can. Whatever happens with your previous que don't bother, focus on next
bit.

Part 2]. Quantitative.

There is no need to prepare all the topics. You can clear this round if you
prepare following topics well.

1). Time & work.
2). Time & distance.
3). Percentage.
4). Profit & loss.
5). Averages.

Here also same, for each que 2. 15 min. Manage time properly.

This section is very easy, if you practised it before.

We finished our test by 2.30pm and they asked us to wait for results.
Results of this round was declared by 3:30 pm.

I was worried about the results because I missed 2-3 bits to answer due to
time factor. But there was sectional cut off and I cleared this round, felt
very happy.

Round 2: English assessment test.

This round starts about 5:10pm. In this round there were 22 questions & you
have to solve those in 20 minutes. This time there was no timer so you have
to care about time. But this round was easy one. This is also objective
test. To clear this you should be very clear with:.

1). Formal business mailing.

Salutation, signature & what type of language should be used.

2). Active voice & passive voice.

You need to find which sentence is in proper passive or active voice.

3). Punctuation.

Where to put comma, semicolon & all.

4). Basics of tenses.

After test, they announced result in 15-20 minutes. I cleared this round
too. We instructed about further process and they scheduled our interview
round on 14th.

On 13th, other batches were scheduled with first 2 rounds. And all
candidates, who have to face interview, were called on 14th.

Round 3: Personal interview (tr+hr).

This round scheduled on 14th. He started conversation with simple talk & I
became much comfortable. Then it longs for 30 minutes. Be careful with your
resume. Mention only those things (skills) which you really know well. He
checked my cv & then asked questions on my project (front end, back end,
limitation, what was your role). He asked some questions on java & sql as I
mentioned them in my skills.

He asked some hr questions like:-

1]. Willingness to relocate.
2]. What you know about ibm?
3]. Why you want to work with us?
4]. Are you flexible with technology as per project requirement?
5]. Do you have any question for me?

I replied well. They eliminate very few in this round. My interview was
finished by 10:30am. Then they asked us to wait for results.

Just be confident in this round. Don't bother if you are not much fluent,
just give your best.

We were waiting for the results. Fingers were crossed. And about 11:45
results were announced. As I heard my name, I felt very very happy. I was
feeling on top of the world. I called my parents & convey them good news.
They feel very proud.

After that documentation is done, which was very long process. We filled
employment application form (eaf).

It was memorable day of my life, 14th november 2016. Finally I got job in a
reputed mnc.

Now I'm an ibmer!

Thanks a lot to all who support me in all aspects directly and indirectly!

Thanks to naukriindia.in!

All the best!

IBM Interview Experience - KOLKATA, FEB 21, 2016

IBM Interview Experience - KOLKATA, FEB 21, 2016

IBM - Interview experience.

Hi, I am Debarun Dey. I am 2016 pass out from JIS College of Engineering,
Kalyani in ECE. Studying B-Tech came by chance as I wanted to be a doctor (I
experienced some personal set backs). I struggled 2years. I had serious
health complications. I also used crutch at a time. At a point no one took
me as a serious student. Even my family had lost faith in me at that time.
But I was determined to prove them wrong. I tried hard. I sat for CAT in
2016 without any preparation and it was another disaster. My confidence
level was almost zero. TCS came for for placement. I managed to crack the
apti level. It came as a surprise to others.

But unfortunately I was eliminated in the PI round and that pushed my
confidence down further. Every thing was Ok in that interview. But it was
very surprise to me. Then other companies came and left. I managed to clear
most of the aptitude tests but final conversion was becoming difficult to
me. Then I started for preparing CAT, 13 seriously. This action proved very
fertile. I started to regain my lost confidence. But constant family
pressure was there. The CAT result was medium. I managed to get call from
some tier 2 Bschools. Then at that time I got mails from several companies.
I cleared the CTS aptitude test conducted by AMCAT. But didn't sit for the
interview.

One day COCUBES sent me a mail containing info about IBM drive. I heard that
IBM drive is one of the toughest (they have several stages) yet finest. So I
went for the Cocubes test in Techno-India. Cleared the apti screening. Then
IBM conducted their own infamous series and logic test. 20 series and 20
apti questions were there. After the test they told that I haven't cleared.
But after few weeks they informed me again that "you are selected for
further round of test". I thanked God. The 2nd test or English test was
conducted at Narula, our sister college. The environment was familiar. The
test was to test the managerial skills like documentation, punctuation, some
decision making etc. It was very easy to me because earlier I had practiced
a lot before my XAT exam. And at the end of the day I was selected.

Then I got the mail for interview after few weeks. My best friend
Shambo(FIEM) earlier attended the interview but couldn't cleared to cleared
the interview. He helped me a lot from his experience. The interview was
scheduled on FEB 21 in Techno.

At the beginning an Hr Mam told that not to be worried and to relax (I never
seen like this fantastic kind of HRs). After submitting the copies an IBM
guy called my name. I was first in my panel.

I entered the room. The HR offered me cold drink and coffee. But I turned
down with humble approach. He saw my CV and said "Man why you came here. You
are made for MBA (I have a lot of extra curricular like working with N.G.Os,
publishing socioeconomic article, case studies etc etc). ". But I said no
sir as of now I like to use my skills that I have earned after 16 years of
students life. Then he said "do you have any dependent family members?". I
said no. Then he said why ECE, why software etc. Then he gave to solve 5
puzzles. I solved all. Then he asked simple questions on projects some basic
level sorting-searching questions. At the end he asked who is your favorite
footballer (I mentioned that I am a die hard soccer fan). I said my all time
favorites includes Paolo Maldini, Zidane and Figo. He said tell me only one
name. I said "Maldini".

Then he said why a defender instead of the forwards and goalscorers. I said
"Sir football is a team work. Every member is vital, every member has to do
his own duty. Apart from being a great defender. He was a true class leader
in his teams A. C Milan and Italy. You know after his departure Ac Milan is
declining. But Italy was OK in Canavaro and Buffon's hand. Maldini's
leadership is felt in every Milan game. "After my answer I found the HR
staring at me in a surprising smile. And at the last he shook my handwith
the line" welcome to IBM man". I quietly left the room.

Few Tips for aspirants.

1. IBM hrs are the best interviewers. They are very friendly. So don't be
scared. Don't lie. Be humble.

2. If you are not so good in technical not be scared. They test your
managerial approach, how you convince others. If they gave a problem (like
programs in C) and you don't know that fully then try to write the algo or
in steps.

3. Don't overexpose yourself. Give them respect (they earned their respect
that's why they are in the chair). Some So called "DADAS" of colleges suffer
for it.

4. Be suave and amiable. If you find your HR is busy with mobile or laptop
don't you ever think he is not watching you.

5. Don't lost hope if you fail. Try to keep you attitude and confidence in
high (but don't show them keep it with you).

6. Try to practice maths and apti's from 2nd year on wards. If you cannot
qualify in the preliminary rounds then certainly your vast subject knowledge
will not help.

IBM - GBS Off Campus Interview Experience - MLRIT on 15th Feb, 2016

IBM - GBS Off Campus Interview Experience - MLRIT on 15th Feb, 2016

Hi IBM aspirants,

I need to thank Naukriindia.in first of all Because candidate's experience posted
here helped me a lot in achieving my dream.

IBM GBS Recruitment Pattern:

1) Online Aptitude Test (36 bits).
2) Kenexa Online English Communication Test: (22 bits).
3) Personal Interview.

(No Group Discussion).

1) Online Aptitude Test: (Held at CVR College of Engineering).

It Consists of two sections, 18 bits each with a timer of 2:15 min/bit.

First Section consists of Number Series (Easy and Scoring).

As per my experience, previous papers on this site are enough to crack this
section. But to be on safe side practice some more similar type of
questions.

Second Section is on Quants (Medium).

Practice Time and work, Time and distance, Ratio and Proportion,
Percentages, Profit - Loss, Averages, Simple Interest - these topics are
more than enough to crack this section.

Overall, Keep in mind that Cutoff will be high in this section. So keep in
mind - Try to score as much as possible.

2) Kenexa Online English Communication Test: (Held at Srinidhi College).

22 bits - 20 mins without timer, so you need to keep an eye on the time.

Prepare these topics - Active Voice - Passive Voice (3-4 bits) , Punctuation
(3-4 bits, mainly on Semicolon, Colon, Coma) , Grammatically Correct usages
(1-2 bits) , Business Emails, Business Letters (especially concentrate on
Salutations) , Memos.

Also don't forget to prepare few questions that are posted in this site
because it won't be a surprise if you get the same bit in the test.

3) Personal Interview: (for me it was only 5 min :O) (MLRIT on 15th Feb'14).

My Interview was very simple. Just some general HR questions like,

A) Where are you from?
B) About Family Background.
C) Strengths.
D) What do you know about IBM.

And Lastly,

E) Do you want to ask anything?

And It's done. !

Try to be Confident while answering. Elimination is very less in this round.
So, proceed with a positive touch. :).

Finally, they announced the results and My name was not in the List :
(because that list consists of Candidates who are NOT selected for IBM :P
:D. It was kinda Surprise by the IBM HR's I guess ;).

And there is no Limit for my happiness :).

I would like to thank all members, who posted their valuable experience on
Naukriindia.in.

Give Your Best. !

Last but not the least, Check your mails Regularly.

L&T Infotech Interview Experience - Chennai, September 30& October 1, 2016

L&T Infotech Interview Experience - Chennai, September 30& October 1, 2016

Hi friends, I attended L&T Infotech campus recruitment in Sathyabama
university. I m pursuing BE. ECE in Jeppiaar Engg college. Totally 1000
students attended from jpr and sathyabama.

Totally it was of 5 rounds.

1. Online test:

Actually I attended 2 companies before l&t, but came out in 1st round
itself. As I felt quans was little bit difficult. I m strong in logical and
verbal, since there were sectional cut-off in all sections I wasn't able to
crack my aptitude.

Later in l&t I managed to get through. The difficulty is moderate. Study
are. S Aggarwal book its more than enough.

*30 quans question were from numbers, profit &loss, S.P& C.P, data
interpretations, HCF, pipes and cisterns, calendar and clocks.

*30 logical were from data sufficiency, blood relation, syllogisms and some
more but it was very easy.

*30 verbal were spot the errors, analogy, comprehension, synonyms, jumble
sentences, fill in the banks etc. This section too was very easy. HAVE A
GOOD TIME MANAGEMENT, as there is no sectional time.

2. GD:

Topic was "there is nothing wrong in live-in relationships". The HR expected
good communication, teamwork and how we are taking the discussion to next
level by giving examples (both real time and from newspapers). Please don't
argue and also don't be silent. Always initiate or conclude or give other
persons a chance to talk. I was the initiator and gave chance to my team
members who didn't participate at all. Out of 10, 7 were selected. But they
filtered more in GD.

3. Essay writing:

No elimination. Just to check your grammar skills, sentence formation and
how different you think. Topic" Education is good in private or government
colleges".

4. Technical Interview:

They eliminated a big number in this round. Such a tough round in whole
process. Since I was from core dept they screwed me more by asking question
why you are moving yourself from core to IT. They screwed me for 30-35 min.
The only thing they were expecting was confidence and attitude rather than
your correct answer. You have to attract them by your boldness and
communication don't ever say" I DON'T KNOW". Questions asked from
microprocessors and microcontrollers and C. Have a good basics in C. They
asked me arrays, structures, pointers, swapping prog, largest of three
numbers, microcontrollers prog which we have studied in 5th semester. Out of
60+ students they selected only 20 and I was one of them.

5. HR interview:

Guys even in last round elimination was there. Be alert, don't think its
easy round, because this is the round where they do stress interview.

In my panel they asked to say story of some films to check our fluency. They
asked general question like tell me about yourself, why l&t, then they asked
can you work in north like Mumbai or Pune? and asked can you sign bond of 2
years.

Fortunately I got spot selected. Only few were spot selected. Out of 20, 11
were selected. They are expecting more from us, thus out of 1000 only 11+
were selected from both the colleges.

So guys do your best work, don't expect anything and have faith in god. Take
more online test. Naukriindia.in provides you more number of questions which have
been asked in many IT companies.

ALL THE BEST AND BEST WISHES FOR UR BRIGHT FUTURE.

L&T Infotech - SJCIT College, Chikkaballapur, Bangalore. 23-Jan-2016

L&T Infotech - SJCIT College, Chikkaballapur, Bangalore. 23-Jan-2016

My L&T Infotech Experience.  (May IT Will Help You).

I had applied for L&T through Referral.

I got call for this on 21/jan at SJCIT Chikballapur.

First of all verification process was there, at this they have your whole
data, so don't make to fool them.

Then we were having Written Process.

Pattern -60 que, 60 minutes.  (3 section) (sectional cut off was there, be
careful).

1 > Verbal (20 que).
2 > Logical (20 que).
3 > Apti (20 que).

It was not that much tough most important thing is time management.
And there was not any particular time for each section you can jump from one
section to another.
After half an hour they declared the result. I think cut off was high
because out of approx 300 candidate they called name of only 17 Candidates.

After that GD was there.

Group of 10 members each.

My topic of GD was "Should Private Coachings Be Banned or not".

In this round also they filtered candidate.
In our group 5 were selected.

After this there was a essay writing round was there, it was not a
Elimination round. Just a Formality.

Topic-"How You Can Be A Change Maker" (Time-12 minutes).

Then they told us to leave for the day and come day after tomorrow.
Because at that day Technical Panel was not there 23/Jan.

I think there were approx 2500 to 3000 total candidates were there
(including 21 and 22 January) out of this there were 70 -80 Candidates were
left after GD.

Now its time for Technical Round l (25 minute).

In my panel female HR was there (My life's first Technical Interview).

Tell me about yourself - Told.

ZENSAR PAPER & INTERVIEW - 03 MAR 2008

ZENSAR PAPER & INTERVIEW - 03 MAR 2008

Hi Friends

I want to start with a quote that I always try to follow in my life that,
"If the victory is certain then even a coward can win but the real brave are
those who dare to fight even if they know that their defeat is fixed". From
the day when I joined my college I had the dream to start my career with a
growing company where I could get an opportunity to utilize my abilities &
skills. This dream seems to be come true when Zensar Technologies visited
our campus, It was 3rd of March, 2008, stage was well set, show was just to
begin.

Four people came from Zensar for the recruitment and now it's time for the
PPT i.e Pre Placement talk .. in that they have told us about there
selection criteria, about Zensar and of course the most important thing the
package they are offering us.

They were very strict about their eligibility criteria, and the eligibility
criteria was all through 60%, few of our friends are only 1 or 2 marks short
of first division in 10th standard but its really mysterious they don't even
allow them to sit just for the one odd mark.

The Selection procedure is normal as other companies, we have to under go 3
stages:
1) Aptitude Test
2) Technical Interview
3) Hr Interview

We all were ready for the Aptitude Test and I was really feeling embrace for
few of fine friend who were very intelligent but couldn't make it just
because of the eligibility criteria.

Aptitude Test begins: (there was no negative marking but there is the
sectional cut off of 50%)

The test was divided into 4 categories and each of them contains 20 question
and 20 min. are provided for each section, and we were forced to solve a
section for 20 min. only and once the 20 mins are over then only we can jump
to the next section.

First section was the English section, for me it is the toughest hurdle coz
I had prepared the articles, prepositions, tenses, synonyms and antonyms but
the pattern of the test was totally different, there was a complete sentence
in which a fragment is underlined and we have to replace that fragment with
the given options, and it was a real hack when I tried out options one by
one every one is perfectly fine. I was really confused and the next five
question were like

Prem Chandra was a _______ poet, he has written several ______ with his
title and still lots of them _______.

In these question I shooted lots of arrows (I hope some of them might hit
the target )

Next 5 question were like Heat: temperature:: _______:_______ I m sure that
I haven't answered more then 2 correctly.

And the last five question were based on a passage (I say to me that, "yaar
agar English ki sectional cut off cross karna hai to kuch bhikar ke ye sare
question thik karne hi padenge") I read the passage twice and I m sure that
I must have answered all the question right.

Two mins were still there, I tried to keep myself calm but I was really
frustrated.

Next section was Maths no problem for me at all.. I was quite frustrated coz
of mine English section that's why I was even unable to remember the table
of 18 in one of question. I have to find 18 * 9 nothing came in to mind at
that time every thing was like ??????? then I done 180-18 to calculate it
again was even unable to subtract I said oh god ..what is happening today.
Then after a min I regained my senses and I have done 16 questions 100%
correct in just 10 or 11 odd mins. Question were very simple like

1)A can do a work in 31 days and B can do the same work in 8 days ,A alone
started the work after few days he was joined by B, and the work completed
in 10 days . After how many days A is been joined by B.

2)In an election between 2 candidate one have got 53% votes and won by 1057
votes, how many votes were there ?

3)A spent 3589 Rs. In first four months and 5216 Rs. In next eight months,
if he saves 2368 Rs per month then what is his salary ?

4)A man sells a bike and a cow in 14000 Rs., by selling his bike he loses
20% and gained 20% in selling his cow, if the total profit was 200 Rs. Then
what was the cost price of cow?

5)Two no. are in 2:3 ratio if the three fifth of the first number is added
to two third of the second no then the new ratio will be ?

6)The cp a ltrs of milk is 12 rs, a milk man purchases 20lts of milk and
wants to earn 200Rs. in the transaction if he sells 20 ltrs of milk then how
much water will be the sp of a ltr milk... (too simple its not allegation)

And simple problem on ages, allegation, time and distance etc.

Next Section, Reasoning was avg. not too easy not too tough, an average
person can do almost 65% of the question and rest of the question were quite
tough,question were like,

A, B, C, D, and E were 3 guys and 2 girls, each one have the b'day in Jan,
Feb,..may;

Each one of them like sweets, ice cream...etc.

Note : verbal as well as non verbal reasoning was there (don't worry it was
easy )

Now It's the time for the Technical Section which was the last section of
the paper:

Most of the questions were based on the C output and rest of the question
were from networking, Computer Architecture, Operating System. Question were
like:

1)which is the fastest : FTP, TELNET, TCP, etc.

2)output:
main(){
int x=20,y=35;
x= x++ + y++;
y = ++x + ++y;
printf("%d %d",x,y);
}

3)char *p[]="rachit and devender";
printf("%C",++(p[4]));

4)const char *p[]="abhishek and Ankur";
 char k='a';
 p[1]=k;
 printf("%s",p);

5)main(){
 extern int i;
 i=5;
printf("%d",i);

6) main(){
 int i,j=2;
 if(i%j !=0)
 j=5;
 printf("%d",j);
 }
For what values if i the output will be 5 : options 1)when i is even 2) odd
3)prime 4) fro all

7)complexity of merge sort .?

8)which sorting also will use to sort {1,2,3,4,5} ?

9)which cpu register holds the address of next instruction?

10)Main(){
  Char *p[]="pradeep mani";
  Printf("%c%c%c%c",p[i],i[p],(*p+1),*(p+1));
  }

11) select * from dual ; output..??

12) we cant typedef (i) pointers (ii) function (iii) double (iv) I and II
both

above are some of the question which are been asked in the 4th section of
the Aptitude test.

Now they asked us to wait for 30 mins, it was really a tough time our heart
was beating at full speed.. 30 mins seems to be 30 years,

Now the result is been declared..

A person came and said that only 5 people are selected every one of us were
astonished, we were assuming that at least 15 people will crack this
Aptitude  but that was really strange, My name was there, but I really feel
bad for all my friends who were unable to cross this barrier. They have
given us a form to fill up, it's a general details entry form, they take our
CVs and ask us for reporting them with in 15 Mins.

It was really tough hurdle coz Zensar mainly focuses on the technical round
but I was well prepared for this round coz I may not be totally perfect, but
parts of me are excellent.

Now the battle of questions and answer started.

We were in our college at 9:00 am and now it was around 2:30 pm I was the
second person to go for the technical round,

They asked me have you taken your lunch I said, "no, I don't even had my
break fast", then they ask me are you hungry I have some snacks with me I
said, "no thanks, I m just hungry for the job".

Then they started bombarding questions,
1)what is pointer to a function ..
2)Explain the working of pointer to a function
3)Difference between char const *p, const char *p,const * char p, const char
* const p
4)What Is FILE *fp
5)Write a program to print a file from the last .
6)Write a program to encrypt the file

7)What is abstraction
8)What is run time polymorphism
9)What is register storage class? If a variable is declared as register then
is it compulsory that it will be of storage type register?
10)What is interface in java ?
11)What is implementation ?

12)Why java doesn't support multiple inheritance ?
13)Is c++ is pure object oriented?
14)Why we need new operator in java at the time of object declaration and
why not in c++?

15)Write a program to implement virtual functions ?
16)What is the difference between file and data base storage ?
17)Difference between hierarchical data model and network data model ?
18)What are the 12 codd's rule ?
19)Gave me a table and asked me to normalize it up to 3 nf ?
20)Difference between BCNF and 4 nf ?
21)Difference between conflict and view serialzability
22)What is batch operating system ?
23)Difference between multiprogramming and multitasking ?
24)What are different types of scheduler ? explain short term scheduler ?
25)What are different scheduling algorithms ?

26)What is a system call?
27)Monitors and Semaphores ?
28)What are different CPU registers ?
29)Object oriented model, Component Assembly model and Waterfall model ?
compare them ?
30)Difference between OSI and TCP/IP?
31)X.25 ?

32)CSMA/CD ?

33)IEEE?

34)Heap Sort, Merge Sort ?
35)Hashing Technique ?

I was thinking that, "yaar kintne question poochenge ye log, voh poochte ja
rahe the aur main batataja raha tha", there were lots of other question..

This round lasted for around 50 -55 mins and HR round was also attached to
this because we were only 5 people selected out there, now came the time for
the HR interview:

Normal Questions:
1)Describe Yourself as a person ?(she said I don't want u to repeat the
resume, something which in not mentioned in that)
2)Say something about dream.. I said, "Dream as if you'll live forever, live
as if you'll die today."
3)Which is your dream company ? I said that, "I m telling u the truth, my
dream company is Google", then she asked me why Google, I was well prepared
for that question I said, "God is with them who have the courage to fly, not
with them who stand on the ground and watch the sky", then wla wla wla...
4)Then why Zensar ? "One of the greatest victories you can gain over someone
is to beat him at politeness", that's what I have done at that time
5)Where do you see yourself after 5 years ?
6)Say something on,"when you are in Rome do what Romans do"
And that's it, finally me and three of my friends were selected in the
ZENSAR.
At last I want to say that,

"Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the
end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow."

So if you are not selected don't worry coz "after every sad day there comes
the glad day"

Syntel Interview Experience - Pune, March 01 & 02, 2016.

Syntel Interview Experience - Pune, March 01 & 02, 2016.

Hello Everyone, I attended the referral drive for freshers of 2016 batch for
Syntel.

The first round was the aptitude test on the 1st of March.
The second round was the GD on the 2nd of March.
The third round was the technical interview (face2face) on the 2nd of March.
The fourth round was the HR interview (face2face) on the 2nd of March.
For some of the candidates, the tech and the HR interview was conducted
together.

In the aptitude,
90 questions.
30 on Analytical Reasoning,
30 on Numerical Reasoning (mathematical aptitude),
30 on Verbal Reasoning (grammar),
60 mins,
No negative marking,
One mark per question,
5 options per question (this was unusual).

In analytical,

there were questions on family-relation, coding-decoding, SAINT/LIAR, number
series, etc.
Since I did not have enough time to answer all questions, I don't know the
other question types.

In numericals,
3 questions on average, time and distance, profit and loss; 2 on work and
time, mixtures, trains. Questions on Pipes, Ratio, HCF, Simple interest,
Compound interest, Simplification, Area.

Not very highly complex questions, but a little bit of twist should be
expected.
R.S Agarwal will be more than enough to crack the Syntel apti.

In verbal,
5 questions on correct words in the blank space,
5 questions on synonyms,
2 on antonyms,
5 questions on correct order of sentences,
5 questions on spotting errors,
8 questions on a passage.

They were usual typical Syntel questions. The questions seem tough but the
options give you hints. Go through the options once, properly.

In the evening I got a mail saying that I have been selected for further
rounds of the interview.

Hurray!!!

The Next Day:

In GD, the topic was 'Who is a better captain, Ricky Ponting or Saurav
Ganguly'.
Girls, please don't panic if you know nothing about Cricket.

Since all 10 participants of the group were boys, the invigilator, after a
mutual agreement with us, gave us the topic.

Best part of the GD was that the invigilator had asked us to be aggressive
since it was an all boys group. We listened to him.

I talked thrice for 20 secs each with a good firm voice and got rapt
attention from others. Though I had an option to be aggressive, I chose to
be within limits.

Don't get carried away. It may be a trap.

If you are interrupted, keep saying 'please let me complete, please listen
to me for a while'. Being aggressive does not mean speaking on top of your
voice and lose your temper. Remember, its still a discussion, not a fight.

There were some good speakers in the group. Hence 7 out of 10 got selected
including me.

In the end of the GD, the candidates who did not speak much had a chance
given to them by the invigilator. 1 of them grabbed the chance and the other
3 were rejected.

In the technical interview, there was a single person taking my interview.
The interviewer greeted me asked me to have a seat.
I thanked him for that.

Question 1: Tell me something about yourself [Meanwhile, he was going
through my CV carefully].

Answered about me, my education, my family, hobbies.

Question 2: Your project seem interesting, can you explain it to me in
detail?
Answered with the basic flow of the project, drew a few diagrams about the
flow, explained the architecture and different modules. Lot of hand gestures
to represent client/server interactions.

[He cross questioned me on a few things; I answered all of those].

Question 3: What do you know about 'JMeter'? (It was mentioned it in my CV)
Answered.

Question 4: Are you ready to work in shifts?
YES.

Question 5: Are you ready to relocate?
YES.

Question 5: You have mentioned 6 technical skills, what are you most
comfortable with?
Answered.

Question 6: Are you ready to work in analysis and testing?

Given a choice, I would definitely choose development, but if Syntel reckons
that I am more utilizable in the testing domain, I will joyfully accept the
domain.

Interviewer: Okay, Good. It was nice meeting you Tufail.

Me: It was nice meeting you too Sir. Have a nice day.
I left the room and shut the dooe behind me.

After 10 mins of waiting outside, a HR coordinator came to me saying "Please
follow me for your HR round!"

I was like 'phew!!!'

My HR too was taken by a single person.

In the HR interview:

The HR greeted me and asked me to have a seat.
I thanked him for that. He went through my CV carefully.

HR: Why have your marks gone down after your 10th?

Answered about being too involved in extra-curricular activities and then
managing it well in the latter half of BE and pulling things off in the
final year.

HR: What are your aspirations?

Answered about my long-term and short-term aspirations.

HR: What are your plus points?

Answered about me being a good leader as well as a team player, quick
learner and a very social and a friendly person, a versatile individual.

HR: Give me an example of you being a good leader?

Answered about how I lead my team to the annual trophy in annual sports.

HR: Why do you want to join Syntel?
Answered.

HR: Are you ready to work in shifts?
YES

HR: Are you ready to relocate to Gurgaon?
YES

HR: What are the areas you think you need to improve on?

Answered that I need to be more objective in a competitive environment.

HR: Asked me a puzzle about '2 dice which would always show dates of a
month'?
Could not solve entirely. But kept trying to solve till he asked me to stop.
Although, I reached till a partially correct stage (HR agreed to it).

HR: No problem, That's all from me. Do you have any questions for me?
NO.

HR: Okay, Good. It was nice meeting you Tufail.
Me: It was nice meeting you too Sir. Have a nice day.

HR: You too. Best of luck.

On the 5th of March, in the evening, I got an e-mail that was ecstasy for
me. Golden words for any fresher - "You have been selected"

All you guys, don't worry!!! Be confident, perform well and 'Consider IT
done'. See you in Syntel.

Sasken - BANGALORE July 26, 2016

Sasken - BANGALORE July 26, 2016

INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE:

Hi. I was one of the 12 people who were selected in the sasken campus drive
at Sir MVIT Bangalore. I'm from computer science branch.

The interview process consisted of three rounds:
1) Online aptitude test
2) Technical Interview
3) HR Interview

1)Online aptitude test:

It consisted of four sections with 25 questions in each section. First
three sections were Quant, Verbal And Logical Reasoning. Absolutely no
preparation required for these sections. All questions were related to basic
maths. But going through RS AGARWAL book will help. The fourth section was
MCQs on 'programming'. nothing related to any specific programming language.
Here your logical thinking abilities w.r.t programming are tested. If you
are strong with basic concepts of any programming language then this section
can be cleared easily. Although 'Test your C skills' book by Yeshwant
Kanetkar helps.

Out of the 127 students who wrote the test only 27 cleared. Max filtering is
done in the first round itself.

2) Technical Interview:

   HIM: temme somethin bout yarself
   ME: ...

   HIM: what are your goals??
   ME: ...

HIM: which is the subject you are strong at??
   ME: C programming.

HIM: tell me any subject other than programming
   ME: OS

Then he started asking questions about OS. Some of the Qs were like this:
   >different types of OS architectures. . . (i had no idea! :P)
   >What did u learn i OS
   >tell me about processes
   >about threads
   >difference between processes and threads
   >RISC and CISC (i said i donno)

Then he asked me to rate myself out of 5 in c and c++.
(if you tell 5 then they will screw the shit out of you!!. play safe)

Then he started asking some more Qs like:
   >allocate memory for 2D array using malloc
   >prog to reverse a number
   >program to reverse a link list
   >program to find if the link list is circular
   >notations for finding efficiency of an algorithm (big oh, omega, theta)

Out of the 27 people only 12 cleared Technical round.

3) HR Inteview:

   HIM: temme somethin bout yarself
   ME: ...

   HIM: what are your goals??
   ME: ...

   HIM: Y sasken?
ME: ... (listen to the ppt and tell stuffs from that)

HIM: y shud i hire you?
   ME: ...

And some more commonly asked HR round questions.

HR round was just a formality. All those who cleared Technical round cleared
HR round also. Finally results were announced and Welcome letters were
given.

The process started at 9AM and got over at 10PM.

Its more than enough if you start preparing 3 days prior to the placement
process.
Go through the basics from all the subjects from 3rd semester. and prepare
for any one subject thoroughly since questions, in interview, will be asked
on 'your' area of interest.

ALL THE BEST.

1. 4 sets of data interpretation were given difficulty level was moderate.

2. 5 easy question from basic quant.

3. 5 sets of logical reasoning question difficulty level was moderate.

There was upper limit for cut off. Students who secured between given limits
were selected for technical and HR interview. Expected cut off was 15-20 for
technical written.

Technical interview was easy and students were mainly asked question from
pumps, heat exchangers and basic equations from fluid flow.

POLARIS PATTERN & INTERVIEW - 22 JAN 2016

POLARIS PATTERN & INTERVIEW - 22 JAN 2016

Hi Friends

I am posting the Polaris interview experience with you all. I attended it on
Jan 22, 2010.

Interview process consists of 3 steps:
1. Written test
2. GD
3. Technical HR

The Written Test consists of General Maths, GK, Verbal questions. No
negative marking.

In Aptitude section, the questions were from all chapters in R.S.Aggarwal.
The questions were asked only from that book and even the data were not
changed. The questions were not from the example part but the problems part.
Questions from Time & Work, Time & Distance, Partnership, Train, Boats &
Streams, Pipes were all there.

In the GK section, questions like - which is the land of the rising Sun
(ans: Japan), in which country was Olympic inaugurated, etc were asked.

In the Verbal section, paragraphs will be given and we have to select the
best option after reading the para. Then error correction was asked.

The written test was easy. It was an off-campus so many people attended.

The second round was GD. Topics such as
1. Are women really a weaker sex?
2. Should students enter into politics?

After this round, Technical HR round. In this they asked basic questions
from C. They asked to write a simple program. They just check your
confidence level.

So, once you clear the GD, this round is easy. This is my experience. Hope
it will be useful for Polaris aspirants :)

Thank you
