What is ACT ?

ACT or American College Testing

ACT or Americal College Testing is conducted for admission to undergraduate courses in USA. The ACT consists of four tests; English, Maths, Reading, Science and Writing. The test was first conducted in 1959 and has become popular since then. The test is accepted by all four-year colleges and universities in USA. However, the ACT score is not the only factor that can determine your admission to a college in USA. Every college select students on various other criteria like Letter of Recommendation, Statement of Purpose et al.

What is ACT ?

What is the GMAT Exam?

GMAT or Graduate Management Aptitude Test

 GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test)
What is the GMAT Exam?

The Graduate Management Aptitude Test or GMAT is a valid and reliable predictor of your academic performance in today’s graduate management classrooms. GMAT is a computerised test in English and Mathematics to check skills and aptitude of candidates seeking admission in business schools of English speaking countries. GMAT is administered and conducted by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). Leading business schools and management education programs worldwide recognize the GMAT as the most effective predictor of success.Simply, that means that the better you do on the GMAT the better you should do in the classrooms. This validity and reliability is important to schools when making admissions decisions.

The GMAT exam consists of four sections—Analytical Writing Assessment, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative, and Verbal. You have three and a half hours in which to take the exam, but you should plan for a total time of approximately four hours to include optional breaks.

How is GMAT Administered?
The GMAT exam is administered entirely in English. The quantitative and verbal sections of the exam are “computer adaptive” i.e. questions are chosen for you based on how you have answered the previous questions. In general, the more correct answers you give, the more difficult the test becomes. Your score is based on both the difficulty of the questions answered and the number of correct responses. By adjusting to your individual ability level, the computer adaptive test shortens the time it takes to complete the exam and establishes a higher level of accuracy than a fixed test.

Format of GMAT

The GMAT exam consists of the following four sections:

Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA): The AWA section consists of one 30-minute essay: Analysis of an Argument. The AWA section measures your ability to think critically and to communicate ideas.
Integrated Reasoning Section (IR): The 30-minute Integrated Reasoning section consists of 12 questions that measure your ability to analyze and synthesize data in different formats and from multiple sources.
Quantitative Section: The 75-minute Quantitative section consists of 37 questions that measure your ability to reason quantitatively, solve quantitative problems, and interpret graphic data.
Verbal Section: The 75-minute Verbal section consists of 41 questions measuringyour ability to analyze texts, draw inferences and convey meaning effectively in English.

What Are the GMAT Score Scales?

The total score for GMAT exam is reported on a scale of 200-800 and is based on performance on the Quantitative and Verbal sections. In addition to the total score, there are separate scores for all four sections:

Integrated Reasoning (IR) – Scored on a scale of 1-8
Verbal Section – Scored on the scale of 0-60
Quantitative Section – Scored on the scale of 0-60
Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) – Scored on the scale of 0-6

The AWA and IR sections are scored separately and do not count toward the total score. They are not included on unofficial score reports available immediately following the exam at the test center, but are on the Official Score Reports available within 20 days of the exam. Your GMAT score is valid for five years.

What is LSAT?

LSAT or Law School Admission Test

What is LSAT?

LSAT or Law School Admission Test is a standardised test for admission to Law schools in US, Canada and many other countries. The test is conducted by Law School Admission Council and measures the skills like reading and comprehension of complex texts; organisation and management of information and the ability to draw reasonable inferences from it; ability to think critically and the analysis and evaluation of the reasoning and arguments of others.

Commencement of Exam

LSAT is conducted four times each year at designated testing centres around the world. Many Law schools require that the LSAT be taken by December. However, taking the test earlier in June or September is advisable.

Students may not take the LSAT more than three times in any two-year period. This policy applies even if you cancel your score or your score is not otherwise reported.
Eligibility Criteria for LSAT

A candidate should complete his/her 10+2 if applying for an LLB degree abroad.
A Bachelor’s degree is required to apply for LLM

Application Procedure for LSAT

There are three ways to apply for LSAT:

You can’t register online if you need a fee reduction, testing accommodation.

https://os.lsac.org/Release/Logon/Access.aspx

Telephone Registration

A student can register by calling at LSAC.

Mail-In Registration

Once you have registered for a test during the regular registration period, you may not withdraw or cancel your registration and reregister for that same test during the late registration period.

Fee Structure for LSAT

The LSAT fee for USA is $ 165 while for Canada is $ 164. Students interested in pursuing Law from any other country can contact LSAC directly.

LSAT Exam Format

The test consists of five 35-minute sections of multiple-choice questions. Four of the five sections contribute to the test taker’s score. The un-scored section, commonly referred to as the variable section, typically is used to pretest new test questions or to pre-equate new test forms. The placement of this section will vary. A 35-minute writing sample is administered at the end of the test. LSAC does not score the writing sample, but copies of the writing sample are sent to all law schools to which a student apply.

The three multiple-choice question types in the LSAT are:

Reading Comprehension Questions: The questions measure the ability to read, with understanding and insight, examples of lengthy and complex materials similar to those commonly encountered in law school. The Reading Comprehension section contains four sets of reading questions, each consisting of a selection of reading material, followed by five to eight questions that test reading and reasoning abilities.

Analytical Reasoning Questions: The questions measure the ability to understand a structure of relationships and to draw logical conclusions about that structure. A candidate will be asked to reason deductively from a set of statements and rules or principles that describe relationships among persons, things, or events. Analytical Reasoning questions reflect the kinds of complex analyses that a law student performs in the course of legal problem solving.

Logical Reasoning Questions: The questions assess the ability to analyse, critically evaluate, and complete arguments as they occur in ordinary language. Each Logical Reasoning question requires the test taker to read and comprehend a short passage, then answer a question about it. The questions are designed to assess a wide range of skills involved in thinking critically, with an emphasis on skills that are central to legal reasoning. These skills include drawing well-supported conclusions, reasoning by analogy, determining how additional evidence affects an argument, applying principles or rules, and identifying argument flaws.
