Tata Consultancy Services Interview Experience - Chennai, September 26, 2016
Hi.
I am an ECE student and I attended the TCS campus drive on September 26,
2016. The TCS selection criterion and pattern had changed this time. The
procedure consisted of a verbal ability test, aptitude test and personal
interview.
Last year when TCS visited our campus the students who scored 70% throughout
were allowed for direct interview. This year the criterion was increased to
75% in 10th and 12th and 85% in college. But even for these students the
verbal ability test was compulsory this time.
The verbal ability test was of 10 minutes and consisted of a set of words
and these words had to be arranged in proper sentences with correct use of
punctuations.
The other students had to give the aptitude test as well as the verbal
ability test. The aptitude test was of 90 mins wit a marking of +1 mark for
each correct answer and -1/3 of the mark for an incorrect answer. There were
around 2-3 questions which were of more weightage.
Now, the first day the pre-placement talk (ppt) was given. Please listen to
it carefully as they may ask you questions related to it.
Around 3000+ students sat for the TCS campus drive from our campus.
Around 2000+ students were shortlisted for the personal interview. The next
day 90 panels each consisting of 2-3 members were appointed to take the
selection process.
I entered my interview room at around 12.45 pm and greeted them.
Interviewer: Tell me about yourself?
Me: Told.
Interviewer: You are from ECE branch then why do you chose to go into IT
industry.
Me: Told.
Interviewer: Can you tell me the pillars of TCS?
Me: Told (this answer was given in the ppt).
I: TCS has offices in how many countries?
M: Told (answer in ppt).
I: How do you rate yourself in c++?
I: Tell me about your project.
I: Are you willing to re-allocate?
I: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I: What is op-amp?
I: What is GSM and CDMA?
Some quest were also asked related to managerial skills. Also ensure that
you try and converse efficiently. They want people with good conversational
ability.
On 29th the results were announced. Around 1100+ students got selected and I
was one of them.
Just answer the questions with full confidence and truthfully. The
interviewers are very friendly and they make you feel comfortable.
