ECPE or Examination for the Certificate of Proficiency in English
What is ECPE?
ECPE or the Examination for the Certificate of Proficiency is yet another examination to prove your English proficiency for academic and professional purposes. The test is recognised by several countries as official advanced proficiency in the English language. The ECPE test scores are valid for two years. The ECPE test is scored by CaMLA standards and will be notified to you by the test centers.
The ECPE exam is aimed at the C2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

How will I be scored under ECPE?
After giving the exam you will receive a report showing your overall performance along with the levels for each test section. The level of performance from highest to lowest are:

What is the format for ECPE?
The ECPE is a test of general language proficiency in a variety of contexts. You would be tested on fours skills in English i.e. Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The details are mentioned below:

Part 1 (multiple choice)
A short recorded conversation is accompanied by three printed statements. Students choose the statement that conveys the same meaning as what was heard, or that is true based upon the conversation.

A recorded question is accompanied by three printed responses. Students choose the appropriate response to the question.
Part 3 (multiple choice)
Three recorded talks, such as those that might be heard on the radio, are each followed by recorded comprehension questions. The questions and the answer choices are printed in the test booklet. Students choose the correct answer from the choices.

An incomplete sentence is followed by a choice of word or phrases to complete it. Only one choice is grammatically correct.

Two passages with 10 deletions each are followed by choice of words and phrases to complete the text. Students must choose the option that best fills each blank in terms of grammar and meaning.
